Our church was founded in 1979 by members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Summerville. This side of town was experiencing such rapid growth that a new, local church was born called St. George’s.
The name of our church was selected from the first church, the Anglican Church of St. George’s, settled in 1751 in what is now Old Dorchester State Park. Today, the old church tower greets guests who visit the fort. In 1728, the minister of St. George’s Church called Dorchester "the pleasantest spot of ground in the settlements." We, too, appreciate our property off Dorchester Road and the beauty of the oaks and wetlands that surround our church.
In recent years, visitors coming to St. George’s have been delighted to be welcomed by a joyful group of members who span all generations and nationalities.
We are grateful to have you visit our Web site. And we invite you to visit us soon at one of our services or church gatherings!
